Calcutta is an amazing city - almost like a distant twin of Bombay -its build on contrasting contradictions - the extreme poverty stands against a mirror of crumbling colonial mansions - the slowly creeping malls - eating into the land, the poorest of poors live exist beside the richest of rich... the city is still a maze of people against a backdrop of melancholic architecture & street vendors awaiting gastronomical expeditions... the visuals that the city paints are a delight for one with the 'eye', ageing textured buildings, Kaleidoscopic streets, the roll & puchka wallah's, walls splashed with communist slogans, the sickle & the pan stains & the ever amusing 'Bhodrolok'.... & his mannerisms. A day spent in this 'city of joy' seems like a lifetime...
